Independent formative usability studies were completed on the Asepsis pediatric Calibrated Drug Delivery™ Kits in Chicago, Illinois. The ANSI/AAMI HIE75:2009 and ANSI/AAMI/IEC 62366:2007 studies were conducted with the participants all registered nurses in a simulated use environment incorporating real-world use of the injection kits. The combinatorial drug delivery kits were evaluated for their overall usefulness in reducing medical errors, enhancing accuracy and providing user convenience. The overall findings concluded that 100% of the nurse participants surveyed would prefer to use the CDD kit to current industry practiced methods.
